Ricigliano, PhD, Partner at Hoffmann & Baron, LLP, recently joined Host Jonathan Brickman on “Latte With A Lawyer.”  The episode offers an in-depth look into Ricigliano’s extensive background, focusing on intellectual property patent counseling, portfolio management, and strategy assessment.

When the skill set of patent attorneys was discussed, Ricigliano emphasized, “There’s many different things you have to balance. As a lawyer you need general legal skills. There’s everything from the client facing managing side to the actual legal expertise …The other part you want to have to be a successful patent attorney is a love of the area you’re working in.”

Ricigliano shared insights gained from preparing and prosecuting both U.S. and foreign patented technologies. He discussed his collaborative efforts with scientists and in-house counsel, emphasizing the importance of properly identifying  patentable subject matters and securing protection for innovative ideas.

Ricigliano explained his work with the pharmaceutical industry and clinical laboratory clients where he provided valuable perspectives on navigating compliance issues and events. Ricigliano stated, “No one is going to invest the time and money that it takes to make a drug unless they know they have the potential to patent it, protect it, and get a return on their investment.”
