Overview

Daniel A. Scola, Jr. is the managing partner of Hoffmann & Baron, LLP,  and  also manages the chemical, pharmaceutical/biochemical and  medical device practice group in the New Jersey office. He has extensive experience in polymers, pharmaceuticals and medical devices. He specializes in building IP portfolios and  designing strategies to protect and enhance company value. Previously, he was Counsel, patents and trademarks as well as Assistant Corporate Secretary at The Warner-Lambert Co. from 1982 to 1991 and Intellectual Property Attorney at Loctite Corporation from 1979 to 1981. Prior to earning his law degree, Mr. Scola was an adhesive and composite-materials engineer at the Pratt & Whitney Division of United Technologies.


Practice Expertise

Particular expertise in strategically developing, procuring and defending IP estates in the patent, trademark, and copyright areas before the Courts and various Patent Offices worldwide;  Post grant proceedings including, inter alia, Inter Partes Review (IPR), Derivation and Post Grant Review (PGR) proceedings; Opinion work including freedom-to-operate, patentability, validity, non-infringement; IP due diligence investigations; Technology agreements, IP licensing agreements, entertainment agreements;  Foreign patent and trademark oppositions, with in depth experience (over 60 proceedings) in EPO Oppositions and Appeals.
