Managing Partner, Hoffmann & Baron, LLP Guests On The Thoughtful Entrepreneur

Daniel A. Scola, Jr., Managing Partner at Hoffmann & Baron, LLP, was a guest on ‘The Thoughtful Entrepreneur.’ He joined Host Josh Elledge to discuss protecting your ideas with patents, trademarks, and copyrights

Scola and Elledge highlighted the significance of intellectual property, with Scola comparing it to a fence. He stated, “Most people respect the fence, but you make another fence around that fence, and then another one around that.” This process protects his clients better than just one patent or trademark.

Scola gave an example of the patent process, “A patent or a trademark or copyright is an asset.  If you really want to create an asset, you need to take certain steps… ‘You have to tell to sell, but you must protect to collect.’ if you want to make any money on your asset,  you have to protect it.”

Scola continued, “I prefer to work with small companies…Be on the ground level…Work together to position the strategy for putting together the portfolio.” Scola gave an example of his work with small businesses. He speaks on the value of one-on-one communication with his clients.

Hoffmann & Baron, LLP, works with a variety of companies from entrepreneurial to global, as well as research institutions.
